Firstly, we will visit the market town of Keswick situated in the northwest of the Lake Disrict National Park. Surrounded by mountains like Skiddaw and Cat Bells, there will be time for you to explore the town at your leisure. Maybe browse the market stalls and shops or you can visit the Cumberland Pencil Museum which documents the history of pencils or visit the Keswick Museum & Art Gallery.
On a hilltop east of the town you will find the Castlerigg standing stones which dates back to the neolithic era, and to the south lies Derwent Water Lake.
Next, we travel to Bowness on Windermere which is situated about halfway along the 10.5 mile length of Lake Windermere, the largest natural lake in England. Bowness is the Lake District’s most popular visitor destination and one of the main centres of outdoor activities.
Here you will have time to take a cruise on Lake Windermere or browse around the many little quirky shops Bowness has to offer or just sit and relax and take in the victorian charm of this lovely town.
